What a fabulous start we have had to the school year in Acorn Class, the children have all returned to school full of enthusiasm and excited to learn.
This first week and a half of term has been spent getting to know the children and allowing plenty of opportunities for the children to find their feet back in school. We have been exploring the learning environment and getting to know each other and new routines of school life. We are very excited for the Nursery children to join us next week.
Acorn class have been busy painting portraits of themselves and used mirrors to check which colours to use.
We have also drawn pictures of our families and have been excited to tell each other all about the different family members we live with.
The children have been excited to begin their phonics journey and have been enthusiastic to see each day which items Khalid Camel has brought for their phonics lessons. I wonder if any of the children can tell you or show you the phonemes we have looked at this week?
In Maths we have been ordering numbers and counting different objects, we have been comparing amounts and looking which is more and less. We have also been remembering 2D shapes and creating pictures using the shapes.
It has been a wonderful start to the year, filled with dressing up, art work and building shelters for a hedgehog. I am very excited for the year ahead and working with the children as they blossom and explore the learning we have planned. An overview for the term ahead will be shared once all the children have settled into school.
Have a wonderful weekend,
I look forward to seeing all the smiling Acorn faces back in school on Monday. Miss Clamp
